Oil Paintings flourished during certain period and with certain class of people. These works of art has earned a high profile position in our lives. Anyone trying to learn western art would want to study, the styles of Oil Painting Reproduction, among others.
Oil paintings are existent since ancient times. The paints were first made by mixing animal fats with mud and were used to stain the walls. This could very well be the birth of oil paints. This mixture was used to make images on the walls of the grotto. What looks like prehistoric images of the hunted and the hunters were discovered by archeologists and researchers.
During the fifteenth century, the famous Belgian Impressionist Paintings painter discovered that linseed oils and oils from certain nuts could be mixed with various colors to create bright oil colors. There is a claim however; that some 13th century British Artists used oils to form oil paints.
Jan Van Eyck is recognized as one of the first users of oil paints.
Oil paint colors are very popular among artists due to the diverse methods of usage and also because of variety of colors available.
